Giving Back

We at Absecon Veterinary Hospital believe in giving back to the community, because caring for animals extends beyond our hospital walls. To unite our community outreach efforts under one mission, we created the PAWSitive Impact Program. This initiative brings together our charitable programs, public health projects, disaster response preparedness, and educational outreach to support pets, people, and regional organizations. Every community program operates alongside our general practice care, emergency medicine, surgical care, dentistry, and exotic pet services, ensuring broad medical support for animals across South Jersey.

Giving Back Through Financial Assistance & Laddie's Legacy

To assist pet owners facing sudden veterinary emergencies, we established Laddie's Legacy, our 501(c)(3) non-profit organization. The foundation honors Laddie, a cherished Maine Coon hospital pet whose calm companionship brought warmth to our staff and clients.

Our foundation provides direct financial support for life-saving veterinary care to prevent economic euthanasia and keep pets with the families who love them. To ensure responsible stewardship, Laddie's Legacy operates through direct veterinary referrals rather than public applications. When our medical team identifies families facing financial hardship during a critical illness or injury, our clinicians coordinate directly with the foundation board to secure funding. We host multiple fundraising events throughout the year to support and replenish these funds.

Direct grants from Laddie's Legacy have funded life-saving treatments for local pets in critical situations. For instance, the foundation contributed over 1800 dollars for emergency foreign body surgery for a dog named Starla, provided nearly 1000 dollars toward acute eclampsia treatment for a mother dog named Bruji, and supplied 700 dollars for surgical bladder stone removal for a patient named Pedro.

Educational Programs & Loss Programs in Atlantic County

Educational Programs & Loss Support

Education and emotional guidance form equal parts of our public efforts. We conduct Pet CPR Courses to teach local teams, emergency responders, and community members how to stabilize pets during health crises. For youth interested in veterinary care, we host the Future Vet Workshop for kids and teenagers ages 6 through 17, led by our professional veterinarians and technicians. Our staff members also visit local schools for career days and pet educational shows.

To help individuals grieving a pet companion, we partner with Mindfully Active to offer a free monthly virtual Pet Loss Support Group on Zoom, open to anyone age 18 or older regardless of whether they are a client of our practice.

Preventative health and emergency readiness remain central to our community efforts. We host free Rabies and Parvovirus vaccine clinics multiple times each year, supplying required immunizations and booster shots to prevent viral outbreaks in local pets.

We also collaborate with pet-friendly community partners throughout New Jersey, including animal rescues, housing complexes, police and fire departments, local businesses, and hospitality locations. Qualifying 501(c)(3) rescue organizations receive discounted veterinary care upon submitting tax documentation, along with new client offers and co-branding opportunities.
