The key to managing dental disease is prevention!

Bad breath is usually frowned upon, and, when it comes to your pet’s health, can be a key indicator of a major health issue! A buildup of bacteria in the mouth can lead to dental disease and other health conditions that can affect your pet’s major organs, including the heart, liver, and kidneys. But, how do you know if your pet has too much bacteria in his mouth? Here are a few signs:

  • Red, inflamed gums
  • Pain while eating
  • Diminished interest in chew toys
  • Yellow, brown, discolored, or loose teeth
  • Swollen mouth or gums
  • Pawing at mouth

At Absecon Veterinary Hospital we understand that healthy teeth and gums lead to happy, healthy pets, and we aim to provide the best pet dental care in Atlantic County. During your pet’s regular wellness exam, we’ll discuss their dental condition and make recommendations for keeping their teeth and gums healthy. Pet dental recommendations may range from daily brushing at home to an in-hospital dental cleaning and examination.
